I have three books coming out in print next year, along with a novella I would like to release in ebook format. (I will also finish two additional books of prose and a collection of Delicate Negotiations cartoons next year. Yes, I am proflific. Profilic. Pro – I write a lot. However, since they are only going to appear on my Web site, they aren’t relevant to the discussion here.)
The publication date for the novel, Welcome to the Multiverse*, has been set by the publisher for March 31, 2013; I am free to publish the other books at the most convenient time. I intended to publish the novella, Detention Diary, in January, the fourth collection of Alternate Reality News Service (ARNS) articles, The Street Finds its own Uses for Mutant Technologies, in June or July, and the fifth ARNS collection, The Alternate Reality News Service’s Guide to Love, Sex and Robots late in the year, or possibly early in 2014.
I have been developing Detention Diary in weekly instalments since January; the plan was to run it for 52 weeks, give it a thorough reworking and release it. Unfortunately, over the last couple of weeks, it has taken a darker turn than I currently know how to deal with, and I have kind of hit a wall writing it. I have, on the other hand, dedicated myself to completing The Street Finds its own Uses for Mutant Technologies by the end of this month. I probably won’t make it, but I’m going to be damn close, and should finish it soon after.
So, I will probably release that in print in January, The Alternate Reality News Service’s Guide to Love, Sex and Robots in the summer and Detention Diary in November, or possibly January, 2014. This isn’t ideal: the first and possibly the second ARNS book will be in print before all of the articles in them have appeared on my Web site. Oh, well. We’re all making it up as we go along.
*Sorry for the Inconvenience
